MapTrip 112

The Leading Navigation Solution for Fire and Police Services

When every second counts, navigation makes the difference. MapTrip 112 is the professional navigation solution for fire services, emergency medical services, and police.

Faster Response Times with MapTrip 112

MapTrip 112 is an integral part of emergency vehicles across Europe – from local fire departments to international vehicle manufacturers. It offers a wide range of features that are continuously developed in close collaboration with emergency responders.

With MapTrip 112, you can choose your preferred map provider: TomTom, HERE, or OpenStreetMap.

Whichever option you choose, we go beyond standard map data. Our maps include additional roads and routes that are particularly relevant for emergency vehicles, including:

  • Bus lanes
  • Fire service access roads
  • Residents-only streets
  • Emergency access routes marked with the “Emergency” tag

This enables navigation to locations where other systems reach their limits – including courtyards, rear building entrances, and restricted access roads.

Because no two operational areas are the same, organizations can decide for themselves which map data should be used.

The result is a map that accurately reflects your region and the realities of your emergency operations.

Clear the Way on Your Terms

Different rules apply during emergency responses – but those rules are not the same everywhere.

MapTrip 112 distinguishes between normal driving and emergency response driving, allowing routing behavior to be configured separately for each scenario. In Emergency Mode, you define a target area within which routing can be specifically adapted. For each situation—normal driving, inside the response area, or outside the response area—you decide how the routing should behave, including whether:

icon One-way streets may be used in the opposite direction.
icon Closed roads or residents-only access roads may be used.
icon Bus lanes may be used.
icon Turn restrictions may be ignored.
icon or whether the navigation should strictly comply with traffic regulations.

MapTrip 112 does not impose rules—you remain in control. Every dispatch center, fire department, or emergency medical service can define exactly what is permitted during an emergency response.

The result: navigation that adapts to your operational requirements. Flexible, realistic, and built for real-world use.

Operational areas are constantly changing. Roads are closed, new routes are created, and construction zones appear.

With MapTrip Detour, you can update your maps yourself at any time—without waiting for map updates from the provider:

  • Close or reopen roads
  • Add new routes
  • Create temporary construction zone restrictions
  • Define preferred or avoided routes

All changes can be managed centrally and automatically distributed to every emergency vehicle. This ensures that your operational maps always reflect the latest local knowledge.

“For us, reliability is what matters. MapTrip 112 delivers exactly the navigation we need in emergency operations – flexible, fast, and practical.” — Ole Langhans, Berufsfeuerwehr Nürnberg

Rectangle-4007
Alamos Navigation with HERE and MapTrip 112

The Nuremberg Fire Department and the Kleve Emergency Medical Service rely on the aMobile PRO incident response software from our partner Alamos and use its integrated MapTrip 112 Detour function for precise routing during emergency operations.

Via the MapTrip Server API, individual road closures, access routes, or emergency response routes are entered directly in aMobile PRO and automatically transferred to MapTrip 112 navigation.

This eliminates duplicate data entry and ensures that all emergency responders work with the same up-to-date map data.

While aMobile PRO provides situational awareness on the emergency response tablet, MapTrip 112 ensures reliable route guidance on separate hardware – on Samsung tablets for the Kleve Emergency Medical Service and on devices from Lardis, the leading provider of radio navigation solutions, for the Nuremberg Fire Department.

Navigation exactly as planned by the dispatch center

The route seen by the dispatcher in the control center must be identical to the route followed by the navigation app in the vehicle. This can be ensured using MapTrip and its Server API.

Both systems use the same routing algorithm and the same map data. Synchronization features ensure that the planned route matches the turn-by-turn GPS navigation route in the vehicle exactly.
