LIVE Parking space occupancy #
MapTrip now displays available truck parking spaces along the route. The occupancy information comes from Toll Collect’s location information service (SID). SID is currently still in the beta phase and covers 1,000 parking spaces (locations) along the motorway.

Free parking spaces are marked with a green symbol, almost full spaces with an orange symbol and full spaces with a red symbol. The remaining driving time to the parking space is helpful for taking driving and rest times into account. A parking space can be selected as a destination with a tap.
Reserve truck parking spaces #
Reservable truck parking spaces are now available in our system. MapTrip, the server API and MapTrip Maps include truck parking spaces that can be reserved and booked online.

These are usually secure parking spaces with amenities such as showers for drivers. Parking spaces can be reserved and booked via the provider’s website.
Improved traffic information #
The processing of traffic information has been improved in several ways:
- The delay displayed on the route now corresponds exactly to the total delay caused by all traffic jams on the route. They can be displayed individually in the traffic display.
- All traffic jams displayed on the map can now also be found in the traffic display.
- All traffic jams along the entire route (even for very long routes) are now taken into account. As a result, the arrival time calculation has become more conservative (longer delay).
- Traffic jam avoidance has been improved, as only the part of a traffic jam that is actually on the route is taken into account. Previously, the total length of the traffic jam was always taken into account.
Push communication with MapTrip #
The driver can now receive destinations (and tours) even if the MapTrip app has not yet been launched. A new background service receives the destination and notifies the driver. Push communication has been developed for this purpose, which receives content from the server API (endpoint /remote).

The feature can be tried out in MapTrip Maps (maps.maptrip.de).
To use this feature, you must activate the remote licence in MapTrip Manager for the respective devices.
Detour #
Create depot / guard post #
Many journeys begin on company premises (or in a depot or fire station). When leaving the premises, the driver immediately needs initial instructions on whether to turn left or right. This is particularly important for fire engines leaving the station, so that the journey begins in the right direction. But even in logistics centres, the first turn instruction must be ‘spot on’ to avoid unnecessary detours.
After being released in the latest version of the SDK, the feature is now available to everyone in the Detour Editor in a user-friendly format.

To create a deposit, please click on the highlighted button.

Information appears in the info field. First, mark the centre point of the depot.

With the second click, mark the spot where your vehicles enter the road.

The orange line shown represents a virtual new road leading from the depot site to the street.
Set detour permissions for user admin #
Detour permissions must also be able to be set by a user admin.
Detour users can significantly influence their own road maps and thus the behaviour of the connected navigation system. It is possible to
- add Roads
- change road properties (e.g. closures or weight restrictions), and
- change turning restrictions.

MapTrip Manager now allows you to manage which functions individual users can use.
Streets “under construction” #
In order to improve the accuracy of road maps, roads that are still under construction will now also be published on the maps. They are blocked by default, i.e. they are displayed on the map as ‘under construction’ (blocked local road) but are not used for route planning or navigation.
As soon as they are approved for traffic, they can be individually activated by the user via Detour.

Roads marked as ‘under construction’ in Germany.
112 #
Maps Emergency tag #

Emergency tags are now also included in Open Street Map maps. The emergency tag is used to mark roads that can be used by the fire brigade, police and emergency services in the event of an emergency. These can be footpaths, for example, which can be used as shortcuts in an emergency. Roads with emergency tags are only used when blue light routing is active.
MapTrip 112 Basic #
New entry-level version for 112 users. The Basic version uses
- Open Street Map maps with emergency flag
- Simple blue light routing
- Truck attributes
There is no radius in simple blue light routing.
Turning restrictions and one-way streets are always taken into account.
Unlike normal routing, in blue light routing
- Roads (including field and forest paths) with Emergency Tag used
- Travel time calculation and announcements are adjusted to 112
The Basic version cannot be connected to Detour.
Separate blue light routing functions #
There is now a detailed configuration option to control MapTrip’s behaviour during normal journeys and when blue light routing is active.
The default setting:
| Unblock one-way street | Unblock closed roads | Unblock residential streets | Use bus lanes | Ignoring turning restrictions | |
| Normal | no | no | no | no | no |
| Blue light outside radius | no | yes | no | yes | no |
| Blue light within radius | yes | yes | no | yes | yes |
The radius marks an area around the location (navigation destination).
The settings can be configured in the settings.ini file of MapTrip.
MapTrip Manager #
Improved usability #
MapTrip Manager is now significantly faster and smoother to use.
POIs for MapTrip via Manager #
You can now transfer your own POIs to MapTrip using MapTrip Manager.
The increasingly strict security settings of Android make it difficult or even impossible to transfer POI data in the traditional way. POI data can now be uploaded via the MapTrip Manager in the Company menu. It is automatically transferred to all devices belonging to the company.

You can only upload one category. Everything else will be deleted.
Revised layout of device page #
The layout of the ‘Devices’ page has been redesigned to accommodate new settings options and improve clarity.
The most important configurations for MapTrip can now be made via MapTrip Manager. Previously, this required replacing the settings.ini file on the device. With current Android versions, this is becoming increasingly difficult due to Android security settings. Anyone who manages a large number of MapTrip installations will find the new feature a great relief.

Please note that the settings shown in MapTrip Manager are not a representation of the current settings on the MapTrip device. The current version of the software only allows the selected and displayed settings to be transferred to the device (push). Reading the current device settings is planned for the next release.
FollowMe #
FollowMe – Events and remarks sent to the device via editor #

FollowMe offers events and remarks that can be added to the route.
- Events are points along the route where the driver is given instructions (text and voice), e.g. ‘Drive carefully here!’.
- Remarks are predefined responses that the driver can make during the journey, e.g. ‘Done!’.
Events and remarks can now be created in the FollowMe editor and transferred to MapTrip devices.
SDK #
Push-communication with MapTrip #
The SDK can receive messages from the MapTrip backend, such as destinations, tours, POIs, settings, FollowMe or detour information.
Destinations and tours can be sent using the server API (endpoint /remote).
Server-API #
Reserve truck parking spaces #
Reservable truck parking spaces can be accessed via the server API. Currently, offers from the following providers are included:
- Happy Trucker
- Bosch Secure Truck Parking
